Top Golf - Adventure golf

Ok so the photo above is not quite Zen, more Croc than Zen! We produced only our second themed course ‘Croc Rock’ 15 years after the first! The area had severe drainage issues prior to our construction and so from a design point view the contouring needed to be spot on, whilst not lowering the overall quality. The low drainage area was used as a soak away for the entire top golf site previously. This meant that during the winter of 2017/2018 there was a constant flow of water to deal with. Our solution was to fill the base with storm crates to accommodate the high level of water. This we then covered with shingle. After this the pond was installed over the sunken reservoir. Since the construction, there have been some severe wet periods over the years. All things considered the course has held up well. We went back this year 2023 to do some maintenance and the course is still going strong.

The local newts and frogs are residents and when they start croaking it feels as though you are in the Florida everglades

(not quite but you get the idea!). Quite fitting really considering the theme. At least the inanimate crocs can do them no harm and even act as a protection from opportunistic birds. Due to the top golf reception being set some way off from the course we decided it best to go with a linking path set-up rather than the continuous track. We felt it would be difficult to maintain a semblance of orderly play if there was no staff in close vicinity. The course plays well with very favourable reviews. It has a tropical feel to it when all the plants are flourishing. The maintenance team do an excellent job of keeping the course looking its best. It gets a little overlooked due to its position on the site but put the effort in a you will be rewarded with a fine, challenging game of mini golf
