18 Hole Wildlife safari Themed course
This park is now called Hertfordshire Zoo! A safari designed course with large scale animals such as tigers and gorillas placed around the holes. We carried out the design (which got altered during construction!) did the fine stone grading and surfacing works. Working alongside artificial rock workers helped us to learn about the theming aspect of course construction such as structure, application, carving and correct mixes. The crew of artists came in from the isle of wight and had worked on many large scale projects at zoos. This should have been the point in time where we pushed on and started creating our own theming works but things changed. Family matters took over and I had to take a step back from mini golf and took on more steady work for the next six years. It was way back in 2003 and the course is still going! Checking on the website its Only £2 a round these days!

18 Hole Design and build
The above photo shows a course we done in 2010 that is still open and being played. Ah the memories. I like to look back at what we done. The surfacing and boardwalks still look in good nick. The timbers could do with replacing, a jet wash for the rocks and perhaps some new border stone but other than that im pretty pleased to see the old course with mature planting and still know that it gets a steady stream of players. It was a pleasant park to work in and the journey was only about two hours from our Hertfordshire base. This course was a good stepping stone in our evolution. In many ways it was our breakthrough course. I look back and see how much more basic and easier the course construction was. I remember we done 18 holes in around two months. Each hole was separated and so we had plenty of room to work around, contour and lay the turf. These days we are rubbing backs due to the design complexity. Anyone wanting similar with an upgrade overall should call us as we are ready to go! Seriously though this type of course will still prove popular and is great value. The budget at the time was around £65k. Theres some long tracks on this course with hole 18 probably the longest hole we had done until Gunnersbury last year. I remember taking my two boys here and all they wanted to do was leave the course and jump in the fountain.! Happy days. Oh and finally a mention to the parks dept who planted some lovely palm trees.
“Took my boys to the play the mini golf we constructed and all they wanted to do was play in the fountain!”
“I didn't get to play the course, but just being present was spine tingling to say the least” this is a review of st andrews links in scotland and not andrews park mini golf! Sorry I couldnt resist!
