Acton park, putt in the park set the bar or branch for us when we constructed this course back in 2016. The park was originally the site of an ancient forest and because of this the council stipulated that trees should be integral to the design. Indeed the small primary school located in the park uses an oak tree on its logo. So to pay homage to this fact, we designed a course that had nature at its core. 5 large Olive trees were planted (The oldest tree could be some 200 years old!), along with a  supporting cast of Acers, Birches and one dwarf blue cedar. Add to this an array of evergreen shrubs means this is without doubt our greenest and possibly the UK’ s greenest course! Indeed over the years the planting has become difficult to maintain and contain!.  After an initial worrying period during a hot dry summer, the trees eventually flourished much to our relief! This course covers an area of 1800 m2 with a central water feature. This was certainly another statement construction following on from the successful wandsworth adventure golf. We blended the course into the surroundings so much so that the course almost disappears into the backdrop of old trees already on the site. it almost feels like the course has been there an age. The photo below shows the course after construction so be warned. All the trees and plants are now flourishing including the pond plants which are growing at a rapid rate. Whilst we have mainly focused on the planting in this article, we never overlooked the most important aspect, which is the course playability. 15 holes, each with a unique putting challenge. I overheard a mother once asking her children, what do the prefer, this or the dinosaur course. I didn’t hold much hope for a favourable from children response from children under 10 but to my surprise they all said ‘this one’.
