Colchester became the first roman settlement in Ad49 just after the reign of Caesar Augustus (photo below). This mini golf course is situated near the original roman wall and directly on the track that led to the gateway. 14 holes that twist their way through a roman garden setting, with each hole named after gods, emperors, landmarks, enemies and inventions synonomus with Ancient Rome. The putting tracks will not only test your skills but will leave you wondering ‘would the romans have shown the patience required to master this course’? Of course they created stunning gardens and this has not been overlooked as the planting borders gives a nod to their masterful landscape skills. Plants for their formal appearance, aroma, medicine and not forgetting the royal colour of purple.
